What are Triploids?
Traditionally, cannabis genetics are composed of two sets of chromosomes, making it diploid. In regular cannabis seeds, one chromosome comes from the male parent (the 'Y' chromosome) and the other from the female parent (the 'X' chromosome). This results in 'XY' chromosome pairs in regular cannabis seeds.
On the other hand, feminised cannabis seeds contain only two 'X' chromosomes from the female parent, leading to mostly female offspring.
Triploid seeds have three sets of chromosomes, with the additional set coming from either the male or female parent. Due to the odd number of chromosomes, triploid plants are sterile and cannot be fertilised. As a result, triploids are always completely seedless.

What is the process for producing Triploid Cannabis Seeds?
Triploid cannabis seeds are developed through the introduction of an additional set of chromosomes in the plant during the process of natural reproduction. This is done by exposing a plant to an organic chemical compound, which is commonly found in Crocus flower bulbs, called colchicine. The colchicine affects cell division, resulting in plants with four chromosomes.
These tetraploid plants are then crossbred with regular diploid plants, which have two chromosomes. As a result, the resulting seeds all have three chromosomes (triploid) and are almost entirely sterile with a 99% chance of not being able to reproduce.
