CBD - Frequently Asked Questions

CBD - Frequently Asked Questions Discount Cannabis Seeds

For general questions about CBD, we've compiled a list of FAQ's and answers below.

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol is a Phytocannabinoid (cannabinoids that occur naturally in the cannabis plant) discovered in 1940. It is one of 113 identified cannabinoids in cannabis plants, along with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and accounts for up to 40% of the plant's extract.

Cannabidiol is a chemical substance found in cannabis that has medical benefits. It will not get you high, because it does not contain THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the chemical in cannabis that makes you high.

Are CBD Drinks legal in the UK?

Yes, CBD drinks are legal in the UK. But let’s first discuss the legality of all CBD products in the UK.

If you’re looking to buy Drinks in the UK, it’s worth noting that they are legal as long as they contain less than 0.20% THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) content. THC is still considered illegal under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.

This means that all products must be tested and found to contain less than 0.20% THC content before being sold in the UK.

In addition, you should know that products containing more than 0.20% THC are classed as cannabis under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, which means it’s illegal to possess them without a prescription from your doctor or a license from the Home Office.

Our CBD-infused drinks may be a perfect choice if you’re looking for a refreshing and easy way to consume CBD!

Are CBD Drinks safe?

Yes they are, however if you have any health concerns, please contact a healthcare professional.

Are CBD Drinks good for you?

CBD has several positive effects that may still be experienced when added to beverages. They can help to reduce anxiety, manage perceptions of aches and pains to help you relax and can even assist with sleep, calming you to bed down for the night.

Are Gummies legal in the UK?

Yes, CBD gummies are legal in the UK. Cannabis is a controlled substance in the UK, but CBD is legal as long as it meets certain conditions. These conditions are designed to control the THC content, not the CBD content.

Any CBD product, including Gummies, can only be made from specific strains of EU-approved hemp, which contain no more that 0.2% of THC and the final CBD product must not contain more than 1mg of THC per container.

The only way to be sure that you’re getting legally complaint Gummies is to buy from a brand that publishes their independent, third-party lab reports (like Discount Cannabis Seeds).

Are CBD Gummies addictive?

No, Gummies are extracted from hemp plants or marijuana and is not addictive. CBD is, instead, also used to help people suffering from addiction through certain forms of CBD treatment.

CBD exhibits healing properties that do not contain the chemicals associated with other dangerous substances that can cause addiction in people. Research shows that CBD can be a healthy material for improvement in everyday immunity especially because of the way CBD is extracted from an environmentally controlled plant.

Can you grow cannabis for CBD?

When people talk about growing cannabis plants specifically for CBD, there must be a distinction drawn between hemp and marijuana. Although both plants are technically the same species, cannabis, the legally defining difference between them is that hemp plants contain less than 0.3% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the psychoactive component of cannabis that makes it illegal, while marijuana plants contain more than 0.3% THC.

Technically, CBD can be derived from both hemp and marijuana plants, but the bad news on this topic is that it doesn't matter what kind of cannabis subspecies you intend on growing. All varieties are labelled as illegal substances according to the Misuse of Drugs Act of 1979, irrelevant of the amount of THC they contain. Basically, all varieties of cannabis in the UK currently have the same label of illicit "weed", and growing weed is definitely not legal under UK law in 2021. If you're just an average person wanting to grow some hemp, it doesn't matter how many cannabis plants you're intending to grow or what their THC concentrations will be, you will be doing so illegally in the UK.

It doesn't matter whether you are wanting these plants for personal use or if you are growing them to sell. If you are caught growing cannabis, you could be sentenced to up to 14 years in prison, and/or receive a fine. Even though CBD in and of itself is legal in the UK, and can be imported without much difficulty, cultivation of plants intended for CBD manufacture is difficult for businesses, and nigh on impossible for the average person.

Can CBD help with depression?

CBD interacts with your body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is responsible for maintaining homeostasis, or balance.

The ECS is a network of cannabinoid receptors called CB1 and CB2, that exist throughout the tissues, including the brain and central nervous system.

It also comprises natural neurotransmitters called endocannabinoids and enzymes that break them down once they’ve performed their function.

The ECS regulates multiple bodily functions, including:

  • Sleep.
  • Appetite.
  • Mood.
  • Memory.
  • Pain perception.
  • Inflammation.
  • Temperature regulation.

CBD has been shown to have various positive effects on wellbeing, including supporting people experiencing pain, inflammation, and sleeping issues. It also shows potential in the field of mental health for conditions including anxiety and depression.

Initial results of early research into CBD and depression appear promising and may offer future direction for further studies.

Can CBD make you sick?

CBD should not make you sick and is generally safe for adults, kids, and pets. However, in rare cases, some people may experience mild side effects after taking CBD.

Those effects can include drowsiness, dry mouth, rapid heartbeat, diarrhoea, and nausea. However, that’s more likely to occur on an empty stomach.

When you first introduce your body to a substance, there may also be an adjustment period. Usually, after the body becomes acquainted with CBD oil, symptoms will subside.

CBD can also interact with other medications to make you feel sick. Both CBD oils and medications require a similar method to be broken down by the body.

If you introduce both to your system, it can mess with your metabolism causing various symptoms that are unique to each consumer. If you are on any type of medication, you should talk to your doctor before trying CBD oil to avoid any possible complications.

Can CBD help with Cancer?

Cannabis has been used medicinally and recreationally for hundreds of years.

There has been a lot of interest into whether cannabinoids might be useful as a cancer treatment. The scientific research done so far has been laboratory research, with mixed results, so Cancer Research UK do not know if cannabinoids can treat cancer in people.

Results have shown that different cannabinoids can:

  • cause cell death.
  • block cell growth.
  • stop the development of blood vessels – needed for tumours to grow.
  • reduce inflammation.
  • reduce the ability of cancers to spread.

Scientists also discovered that cannabinoids can:

  • sometimes encourage cancer cells to grow.
  • cause damage to blood vessels.

Cannabinoids have helped with sickness and pain in some people.

Can I give CBD to my pets?

Pets and CBD is a very popular topic of conversation for pet owners across the UK. If you’re a regular CBD user or pet-owner, you will have probably seen stories and reports about the uses of CBD with a wide variety of animals.

Giving CBD to your pet may seem like a straightforward subject, it does have limitations. Stories and comments online are often anecdotal and written without knowledge of current laws and regulations about giving CBD to an animal in your care.

So, what are the UK laws around giving CBD to your pets? In their most recent statement, the UK’s Veterinary Medicines Directorate said, “products containing Cannabidiol (CBD) are veterinary medicines and should be regulated as such”.

The VMD believes that CBD may be of therapeutic benefit to pets but also that CBD products must be strictly regulated, just like medicines intended for animals. While this will limit what CBD you can give to your pet (more on that below), it also ensures that companion animal’s best interests are maintained.

CBD for pets has a good safety tolerance according to initial research. A main concern around giving animals CBD is the potential interactions it can have with medication.

CBD is metabolised by the same enzyme that breaks down many common medications such as painkillers and antibiotics. Simply put, CBD can cause medication to remain in your pet’s body longer as it takes up the enzyme that processes some medications. In extreme cases, this has the potential to cause side effects or even overdoses.

This effect is common and is known as the ‘grapefruit effect’ in humans, as grapefruit is also metabolised by the same enzyme. To avoid any medical interactions with CBD, always listen to your vet’s advice and use CBD on your pet only with a prescription.

Does CBD Oil work?

NHS advice on medical cannabis (and Cannabis Oils)

"Medical cannabis" is a broad term for any sort of cannabis-based medicine used to relieve symptoms.

Many cannabis-based products are available to buy online, but their quality and content is not known. They may be illegal in the UK and potentially dangerous.

Some products that might claim to be medical cannabis, such as CBD oil or hemp oil, are available to buy legally as food supplements from health stores. But there's no guarantee these are of good quality or provide any health benefits.

Specific cannabis-based products are available on prescription as medicinal cannabis. These are only likely to benefit a very small number of patients.

Can I get a prescription for medical cannabis?

Very few people in England are likely to get a prescription for medical cannabis.

Currently, it is only likely to be prescribed for the following conditions:

  • children and adults with rare, severe forms of epilepsy.
  • adults with vomiting or nausea caused by chemotherapy.
  • people with muscle stiffness and spasms caused by multiple sclerosis (MS).

It would only be considered when other treatments were not suitable or had not helped.

How does CBD work in the body?

The first step to understanding what CBD does is understanding what your endocannabinoid system (ECS) does. The endocannabinoid system is an intricate network of enzymes, lipids, and receptors that most mammals possess. Our ECS is largely responsible for creating and maintaining homeostasis (balance) in the body.

The twentieth-century scientific discovery of the endocannabinoid system was a significant change for human health. Scientists learned that cannabis binds to different receptors in the brain, working in tandem with the ECS to exert numerous health effects on:

  • Mood.
  • Immune response.
  • Pain and inflammation.
  • Appetite.
  • Memory.

These are just a few of the crucial functions that the ECS oversees. Indeed, even reproduction is involved in the endocannabinoid system’s functioning. It would be difficult to pinpoint a body function that doesn’t involve the ECS.

What does all of this mean for medical marijuana users? The discovery of the ECS and how cannabis binds to its various receptors means that medical marijuana may treat wide-ranging conditions. From cancer to epilepsy, the endocannabinoid system plays a vital role in keeping your health in balance.

How does CBD affect the brain?

Researchers say the findings could be an important discovery for conditions which affect memory, such as Alzheimer’s disease and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and could help better target therapies.

In the study, published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology, researchers set out to investigate how CBD influences cerebral blood flow in different regions on the brain involved in memory processing.

Lead author, Dr Michael Bloomfield (UCL Psychiatry) said: “Cannabidiol is one of the main constituents of cannabis and is gaining interest for its therapeutic potential.

“There is evidence that CBD may help reduce symptoms of psychosis and anxiety. There is some evidence to suggest that CBD may improve memory function.

“Additionally, CBD changes how the brain processes emotional memories, which could help to explain its reputed therapeutic effects in PTSD and other psychiatric disorders. However, the precise mechanisms underlying the effects of CBD on memory are unclear.”

For the randomised controlled study, 15 healthy young adult participants, with little or no history of cannabis use were selected.

On different occasions, separated by at least a week, each participant was given a 600mg of oral CBD or a placebo. The doses came in identical capsules, so participants didn’t know which one they were taking on which occasion.

Researchers measured blood flow to the hippocampus using ‘arterial spin labelling’ – a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) brain scanning technique which measures changes in the blood oxygen levels.

Findings

CBD significantly increased blood flow in the hippocampus, however CBD did not cause significant differences in blood flow in other regions of the medial temporal lobe (MTL), of which the hippocampus is a significant component.

In the prefrontal cortex, the area of the brain used for planning and decision making, CBD caused a significant increase in blood flow in the orbitofrontal cortex.

Dr Bloomfield added: “To our knowledge, this is the first study to find that CBD increases blood flow to key regions involved in memory processing, particularly the hippocampus.

“This supports the view that CBD has region-specific blood flow effects in the human brain, which has previously been disputed.

“If replicated, these results could lead to further research across a range of conditions characterised by changes in how the brain processes memories, including Alzheimer’s disease, where there are defects in the control of blood control flow, along with schizophrenia and post-traumatic stress disorder.”

Study limitations

This study used a single dose of CBD in healthy volunteers, which may not translate to the effects of repeated CBD dosing.

How does CBD make you feel?

The compound cannabidiol, derived from the hemp plant, has been a hotly discussed topic over the last few years. Since it is associated with the same plant as marijuana, many people assume that the substance can make you feel the same way cannabis does. This is not the case however — the key difference is that while CBD is in the cannabis plant, the psychoactive qualities of this plant come from tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), another compound entirely.

CBD can help you to relax and unwind, allowing your body to find balance. Unlike with THC, you won’t experience physical or mental impairment and it won’t get you high. The length of time it takes for CBD to take effect is likely to be different from person to person and varies based on the individual. For instance, an individual's metabolism, diet, weight and genetics could play a role in the period of time it takes for CBD to come into effect. However, CBD generally gets to work quite quickly, and it can take as little as 15 minutes for you to feel calmer, balanced and more yourself.

How can CBD change your life?

There are lots of ways in which Cannabidiol can help when it comes to making positive changes to your life, and this is why so many people now turn to CBD products. Some of the ways in which it can help are:

One of the things that Cannabidiol can help with is your mental wellbeing, and this is achieved in a variety of ways. CBD is well-known for being very effective in the reduction of anxiety symptoms, so it can help to make a huge positive change in those who suffer from anxiety.

In addition, Cannabidiol helps to boost serotonin levels, which can then help to lift your mood. A regular low mood can have a damaging impact on your life quality, but this is something that Cannabidiol products can help with. On top of this, Cannabidiol helps you to get proper sleep each night, which can also aid your wellbeing.

How much Cannabidiol can I consume in a day?

Advice for healthy adults

Some scientific studies suggest Cannabidiol can affect the liver if taken at higher doses, but there have been very few studies relevant to levels found in food. As a precaution, the Food Standards Agency recommend that healthy adults do not take more than 70mg a day, unless a doctor agrees more. This is about 28 drops of 5% Cannabidiol.

This doesn’t mean that these levels are definitely safe, but that the evidence we have suggests adverse health effects could potentially be seen above this.

The most common dose of Cannabidiol is 20 – 40 mg per dose. Some people take much less (as low as 1 mg), others take much higher (up to 100 mg).

Depending on the strength of the product you’re using, this could be anywhere from a few drops to several millilitres of oil. It could also involve anywhere from 1 – 5 capsules or gummies per dose.

The ideal dose of Cannabidiol for you depends on a variety of factors, including:

  • Your size and weight.
  • The severity of the condition you’re treating.
  • Your tolerance to Cannabidiol.
  • Your individual body chemistry.
  • The potency of the oil, capsules, gummies, or other Cannabidiol products you’re using.

The best way to find the right dose for your body is to start with a very low dose (2 mg, for example) and increase by 2-5 mg per dose until you find what works best for you.

Is CBD legal in the UK?

The Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 strictly prohibits the use of THC and its inclusion in any CBD products due it being psychoactive. While CBD itself has to meet a certain criteria in order to be lawfully fit for human consumption. The law allows it to be sold as long as it contains ‘less than 0.2% THC’, otherwise it is classed as an illegal substance. Consequently, hemp (which contains very little THC) is legal to cultivate in the UK provided farmers have a Home Office licence for the cultivation of industrial hemp.

The EU has authorised Cannabidiol, and as a result, hemp tends to be farmed outside of the UK due to better farming practices. British companies can sell CBD that has been imported and processed from other countries where cultivation and harvesting is legal. Regulations differ from country to country though. For example, Italy can sell Cannabidiol products as long as they contain less than 0.6% THC.

Below is a link to a useful factsheet from the UK Government:

Drug licensing factsheet: cannabis, CBD and other cannabinoids.

Is Cannabidiol safe?

If you're considering using any Cannabidiol products, you should speak to your GP or other healthcare professional to ensure that it is safe and appropriate for you to do so.

This is particularly important if you are experiencing any concerning symptoms, if you have any pre-existing conditions or if you are taking any medication including statins, blood-thinning medication and calcium channel blockers.

Although the use of Cannabidiol is controversial, it does seem to be tolerated by most people. It has, however, caused hypotension and light-headedness in a small number of patients. As it does not contain the THC part of the cannabis plant, the oil will not induce a ‘high’.

Cannabidiol oil should not be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Is it possible to get addicted to Cannabidiol?

Many people turn to Cannabidiol for its reputation for leaving users feeling calm and relaxed, but could this feeling become addictive? And if you decide to stop taking Cannabidiol, is it possible you could experience the symptoms of withdrawal?

SinceCannabidiol is extracted from hemp and cannabis plants, you might be wondering if it has the capacity

The very short answer to this question is no, you can’t get addicted to Cannabidiol oil or other Cannabidiol products. While addiction to THC is rare but possible, there isn’t enough THC in legal Cannabidiol products to elicit the same response.

Cannabidiol does not produce a euphoric high and it is non-intoxicating, which means that it isn’t changing the way your brain experiences pleasure in the same way that THC does.

What happens if I stop taking Cannabidiol?

Since you cannot become addicted to Cannabidiol, you can stop taking it at any time without worrying about withdrawal symptoms. Your body will not become dependent on the substance, so you won’t notice any changes if you choose to stop taking it.

Individuals should take Cannabidiol for at least 30 days in order to give it a chance to get to work in your body. If you decide it isn’t right for you and want to stop taking it, you can do so without worry or concern.

CBD doesn’t change the way your endocannabinoid system works; it simply helps to support your ECS to function effectively. So, the worst you can expect is that your body will continue to function as it did before you started taking CBD.

Is CBD better with the full spectrum of cannabinoids?

Firstly, lets understand Full Spectrum and Broad-Spectrum CBD. CBD is one of many compounds in the cannabis plant. Other than THC, it is the plant’s most abundant compound. The main difference between full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD is the compounds they contain.

If a CBD product contains several naturally occurring cannabis plant extracts, such as terpenes and other cannabinoids — including up to 0.3% THC — it is Full Spectrum CBD.

Broad Spectrum CBD also contains several cannabis plant compounds, but it is typically entirely free of THC. That said, there may sometimes be trace amounts of THC in broad-spectrum CBD products.

The key difference between broad spectrum and full spectrum CBD oil is simply the chemical compound content of each of the products.

Full-spectrum CBD contains all of the cannabinoids and compounds that naturally occur in the Cannabis plant. Broad spectrum CBD oil is similar in this regard, with the only difference being that it does not contain THC.

What is CBD isolate?

CBD isolate is CBD in its purest form, with 99% (or higher) CBD content.

An important thing to know about the process used to produce CBD isolate is that it removes all the ingredients responsible for hemp’s flavour and fragrance. This means that CBD isolate will have no taste or smell.

In its original form, CBD isolate is a crystalline solid and looks like beautiful, milky crystals straight out of a winter fairy-tale. While very pretty, CBD isolate in this form is not easy to use. Fortunately, it can easily be turned into a white powder through a simple process of grading the crystals.

What CBD Oil is best?

CBD Oil

CBD oil often features all (or most) of these cannabinoids, minus copious amounts of THC. Some CBD oils contain trace amounts of THC, but not nearly enough to have a psychotropic effect. Some CBD oils also contain hemp seed oil or olive oil carriers added to increase bioavailability (rate and efficacy of the formula) and for added flavour.

As these already minuscule amounts are further reduced during the production of CBD oils, there is essentially no THC in these products at all (hence the term ‘trace’).

However, among knowledgeable consumers, full-spectrum CBD oils are becoming more popular as we learn more about the potential of, and health benefits, associated with these so-called “whole-plant” formulas.

Given the difference in cannabinoid profile, people often favour cannabis oil because its effects differ from CBD oil.

CBD oil is most often made from industrial hemp. Hemp isn’t a different species than recreational cannabis, but it does feature one very significant difference: negligible amounts of the psychotropic constituent THC. Hemp does, however, contain CBD and other cannabinoids such as CBDA, CBC, CBGA, CBN, and CBCA. CBD oil often features all (or most) of these cannabinoids, minus copious amounts of THC. Some CBD oils also have hemp seed oil or olive oil carriers added to increase bioavailability (rate and efficacy of the formula) and flavour.

Throughout much of Europe, hemp must contain no more than 0.2% THC to be considered legal. This threshold is increased slightly in the US at 0.3% THC. CBD oils made from hemp cannot get you high. Because of this, CBD oil is legally available throughout the EU and in other nations.

What CBD products are available?

Consumer advice on cannabidiol (CBD) extracts. CBD is one of many chemicals called cannabinoids. It is found within hemp and cannabis.

CBD extracts are being sold as a food, often as food supplements in the UK. They are widely available in shops, cafés and for sale online.

CBD sold as food, or as a food supplement, includes:

  • Oils.
  • Drops or tinctures.
  • Gel capsules.
  • Sweets and confectionery.
  • Bread and other bakery products.
  • Drinks.

Although CBD is a chemical found naturally within the cannabis plant it has only very recently been extracted and sold as a separate product.

The Food Standards Agency published a list of CBD food products to help consumers make informed choices about the products they buy. Products on this list are not formally authorised for sale. They have not yet been fully assessed for safety, but they are linked to applications which are moving through the novel foods process. The FSA is not endorsing these products and inclusion on the list is no guarantee that they will be authorised. Products not on the list will not go through any safety assessment and will not be authorised for sale. The list applies to England and Wales only.

What are the benefits of CBD?

1. Pain Relief.

Cannabis has been used to treat pain since as far back as 2900 B.C.

More recently, scientists have discovered that certain components of cannabis, including CBD, are responsible for its pain-relieving effects.

Studies have shown that CBD may help reduce chronic pain by affecting endocannabinoid receptor activity, reducing inflammation, and interacting with neurotransmitters.

2. Reducing symptoms related to some mental health disorders.

CBD use has been shown to improve some symptoms related to anxiety disorders. Researchers are currently investigating how CBD may be used in the treatment of other mental health disorders.

3. Alleviate certain cancer-related symptoms.

CBD may help reduce some cancer-related symptoms and side effects related to cancer treatment, such as nausea, vomiting, and pain.

Even though CBD may be helpful for some people with cancer, more research is needed to determine whether CBD should be used more regularly in cancer symptom management.

If you have cancer and are interested in using CBD or other cannabis-derived products, it’s important to consult your healthcare team. These products may not be safe, appropriate, or effective for all people with cancer.

4. Neuroprotective properties.

Researchers believe that CBD’s ability to act on the endocannabinoid system and other brain-signalling systems may provide benefits for those with neurological disorders.

One of the most studied uses for CBD is in treating neurological disorders such as epilepsy and MS. Though research in this area is still relatively new, several studies have shown promising results.

Sativex has been shown to be a safe and effective way to reduce muscle spasticity in people with MS.

5. Heart health.

Some research has linked Cannabidiol with several benefits for the heart and circulatory system, including the ability to lower high blood pressure.

High blood pressure is linked to higher risks of a number of health conditions, including stroke, heart attack, and metabolic syndrome (24Trusted Source).

Studies indicate that Cannabidiol may be beneficial for people with high blood pressure.

6. Other Potential Benefits:

Cannabidiol can be used to treat conditions such as chronic pain, inflammation, migraines, epilepsy, autoimmune diseases, depression, and anxiety.

Research into some of these claims is ongoing, and there is still a lot about Cannabidiol that we don't know but researchers are trying to find out.

The NHS confirm the following:

Epidyolex for children and adults with epilepsy.

  • Epidyolex is a highly purified liquid containing CBD (cannabidiol).
  • Epidyolex can be prescribed by a specialist for patients with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome (both rare forms of epilepsy).

Cannabidiol is a chemical substance found in cannabis that has medical benefits.

What research is there about Cannabidiol?

The current evidence for use of cannabis-based products for pain is not sufficiently developed yet; whilst individual patients may perceive benefit; this hasn’t been fully tested in comparative randomised controlled trials in large numbers of patients.

Will Cannabidiol oil relax muscles?

Cannabidiol Oil may be an effective natural muscle relaxant that does much more than just masking the symptoms. By interacting with the endocannabinoid system (ECS), this botanical compound can help you maintain the balance between important processes including muscle function.

Will Cannabidiol help me sleep?

Researchers discovered that the endocannabinoid system plays a role in maintaining certain body functions, such as mood, appetite, sleep, and regulating circadian rhythms. Within the endocannabinoid system is a network of cannabinoid receptors in the brain and central nervous system. The two primary receptors identified are CB1 and CB2.

Cannabinoids attach to these cells and have various effects. As far as how they may affect sleep, some research indicates that the cannabinoid CBD may interact with specific receptors, potentially affecting the sleep/wake cycle.

Additionally, Cannabidiol may also decrease anxiety and pain, which can both interfere with restful sleep. By reducing certain symptoms, it’s also possible that sleep may improve.

Why is CBD so popular?

CBD can provide relief for anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. It is also marketed to promote sleep. Part of Cannabidiol's popularity is that it is “non-psychoactive,” and that consumers can reap health benefits from the plant without the high.

Until recently Cannabidiol, short for cannabidiol was a niche natural health product. It is derived from the cannabis sativa plant but with none of the tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, which is the psychoactive element that has a narcotic effect, and its advocates claim it can do everything from treating insomnia, anxiety and joint pain to helping with serious conditions such as high blood pressure and even the eye disease glaucoma.

But in the past few years it has exploded in popularity in Britain. Today, Cannabidiol is estimated to be a £690 million-a-year industry, outselling all other vitamin supplements combined. (The UK vitamin market is said to be worth an annual £500 million, according to analyst Mintel).
